This week’s MixTape Theme is Cheating Songs.

I’m not entirely certain this first song fits the category, but I always interpreted it as a song about infidelity. Particularly the lines:
“Never wanted to see things your way,
Had to go astray
For why was I such a fool (Why was I such a fool)
Now I see that the grass is greener
Is it too late for me to find my way home,
How could I be so wrong?”
All Cried Out by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force
I particularly love this next song because someone very dear to me used to sing this with me over the phone at night. He has such an amazing voice and I was honored that he would let me sing with him.
“Here we are, the two of us together
Taking this crazy chance to be all alone
We both know that we should not be together
‘Cause if they found out, it could mess up
Both our happy homes”
Secret Lovers by Atlantic Starr
This song reminds me of a friend who was in love with this girl, but she was always dating these other losers instead of seeing what was right in front of her face.
“And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel”
Lips of an Angel by Hinder
I just like this song. It’s a good cheating song.
“When you make love, do you look in the mirror?
Who do you think of, does he look like me?
Do you tell lies and say that it’s forever?
Do you think twice, or just touch ‘n’ see?”
Love Bites by Def Leppard
Not entirely certain this song is about cheating, but I think it’s close enough with these lines:
“You seem very well, things look peaceful
I’m not quite as well, I thought you should know
Did you forget about me Mr. Duplicity
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced
Are you thinking of me when you fuck her?”

Love Bites is my favorite of the slower-tempoed Def Leppard songs. And I don’t know how, or more importantly why, but I remember being at a Lisa Lisa concert at some point during my college years. I’m going to blame alcohol for that one, its the only guess that makes sense.
