Twisted Mix Tape #MiddleSchoolAwkward – Jr High in the 80s

I was in Middle School in 1986, 1987 and 1988, so I am going to focus on those years for this MixTape, but I’m also going to incorporate this with a Summer Playlist inspired by Mama Kat, so they are going to be songs specifically released in the summers of those years.

The first song is going to be from the “Slippery When Wet” album by Bon Jovi which was released on August 18, 1986.  I absolutely adore the entire album, but “Never Say Goodbye” always reminded me of my friends:

“True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper was released on September 15, 1986.  This song always seems to make me cry.  It’s so emotional.

On July 21, 1987 Guns N’ Roses released their album, “Appetite for Destruction”.  I am in love with this album, but I specifically love “Sweet Child O’ Mine”:

And who can forget Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me” from their “Hysteria” album which was released on August 3, 1987.

Released in August of 1988 was Proclaimers “I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)” from their “Sunshine on Leith” album.  I always loved this song.

And just for pure fun (I love the current commercial with this song in it), here is “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa which was released on their “A Salt with a Deadly Pepa” album on August 2, 1988:
