The sound of children’s laughter
Shadows lurking among the trees
Footsteps coming after
Voices begging “please”
The forest is alive
With ghosts, spirits and other haunts
The living they would deprive
Of all needs and wants
Be careful as you walk
They are behind every corner
When you hear them do not balk
They wish to make you a mourner
Run, don’t hesitate
When you hear their chatter
For your heart they wish to decimate
In your chest they’ll place the dagger
Halloween is a time for the foolish
To believe they are here for fun
Their intent is merely ghoulish
So hurry up and run
