Birchbox – May 2015 Review

These are all the wonderful goodies received in my May 2015 Birchbox.

CoTZ® Flawless Complexion SPF 50

CoTZ® Flawless Complexion SPF 50

1.  CoTZ Flawless Complexion SPF 50 – Full-Size version costs $20.  This item is fairly nice and seems to match my complexion very well.  I have only swatched this item at this point, but I like it.

JUARA Candlenut Body Creme

JUARA Candlenut Body Creme

2.  JUARA Candlenut Body Creme – Full-Size version costs $35.  This is actually my favorite item in the box this month.  I absolutely love the scent and it makes my skin feel very soft.

Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel

Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel

3.  Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel – Full-Size version costs $24.  I’m not really loving this item.  I’ve applied it to my face as directed, but it makes it feel sticky and unclean.  Kind of beats the purpose of putting it on after you have washed your face.

Number 4™ Blow Dry Lotion

Number 4™ Blow Dry Lotion

4.  Number 4 Blow Dry Lotion – Full-Size version costs $32.  I don’t blow dry my hair at all, so this product was really pointless for me to get.  However, my daughter occasionally blow dries her hair, so I gave it to her to use.

W3LL PEOPLE The Expressionist Mascara

W3LL PEOPLE The Expressionist Mascara

5.  W3LL PEOPLE The Expressionist Mascara in Black – Full-Size Version costs $23.50.  I tried this product and I have to say that you can’t even tell that I put mascara on at all.  I do like the fact that it is an all-natural formula, but I’m not going to pay that kind of money for a mascara that doesn’t do anything at all.

All this being said, I think I’m just going to cancel my Birchbox subscription.  I’ve only really liked two of their products and it’s not worth it to keep spending the $10 per month for it.

Beall’s/Estee Lauder Haul

So, about a month ago, my daughter and I went to a pre-sale event at Beall’s in which we purchased $35.00 worth of Estee Lauder merchandise and we were able to receive a free gift.  The catch was that one of your items and the free gift remained with them until at least today.  (Basically, they wanted you to come back to the store to purchase more merchandise.)  So, we got to pick up our stuff today.  (All the items I received today are technically sample sizes, but they will last me a very long time.)  Here is what I purchased:

This kit was $10.00, plus the foundation was an additional $37.00. The kit comes with: 1. Matte Perfecting Primer - Full-Size is $34.00 2. Advanced Night Repair - Full-Size is $92.00 3. Foundation Brush - $36.00

To be honest, I really wouldn’t have spent the money if it wasn’t for the fact that my very good friend is a Makeup Counter Manager for Estee Lauder at my local Beall’s.  I try to support her whenever I can.  That being said, I still love the products.  I just really can’t afford to purchase from them on a regular basis.

April 2015 Birchbox Delivery

April 2015 Birchbox $10.00 monthly subscription

April 2015 Birchbox
$10.00 monthly subscription

This is my first review for something like this.  In March, my daughter subscribed to Ipsy and receives free samples and full-size products on a monthly basis for only $10 per month.  I liked her bag, but we thought I should try Birchbox so we would be getting different items every month and we could share.  So, this is my first box from Birchbox.

I must say that I really like the box, however, that being said, I’m not sure what do do with it.  It’s too nice to throw away, but I don’t really think I will have any use for it.  Ipsy items at least come with a makeup bag every month, that I would be able to use to organize my growing collection of products.

jane iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain Full-Size $25.00

jane iredale
Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain
Full-Size $25.00

The first item I am going to review is the jane iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain.  I received the sample size of this item and I’ve got to tell you that I’m definitely not impressed.  It feels and tastes like a ChapStick, and other than making my lips look slightly glossy, there is absolutely no pigmentation whatsoever in this product.  Other people seem to like it, but I am not about to spend $25 to purchase a full-size version.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel Full-Size $48.00

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel
Full-Size $48.00

This next item is the Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel.  I also received a sample size of this, but I sincerely wish it had been a full size.  I’ve used it once and with only a very small amount it had amazing results!  I just love the way my skin feels after using this.  If I could afford it right now, I would definitely be buying the full-size version.

Supergoop!® Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+ Full-Size $32.00

Supergoop!®
Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+
Full-Size $32.00

Third in the box, is Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream.  I haven’t actually used this sample yet, but I did swatch it and I liked the results.  Hopefully I will like it when I actually put on a full face.

Temple Spa Peace Be Still Calming Face & Body Balm Full-Size $29.00

Temple Spa
Peace Be Still Calming Face & Body Balm
Full-Size $29.00

Fourth in the box is Temple Spa Peace Be Still Calming Face & Body Balm.  I received the sample size of this as well and absolutely love it.  The smell is definitely calm and soothing, like being at the spa.  It also makes my skin soft and smooth.

Harvey Prince Yogini Fragrance Full-Size $55.00

Harvey Prince Yogini Fragrance
Full-Size $55.00

Lastly in the box is Harvey Prince Yogini.  I’m not really sure how I feel about this sample.  I put it on today and my dog kept trying to eat my hair (which he has NEVER done before) and my cat kept trying to lick my wrist.  There must be something in it that animals like.  Perhaps it is the myrrh?  I kind of like the scent, but I’m not so in love with it that I would buy a full-size version no matter what the price.

So, that’s it.  That’s my April Birchbox.  I hope you found this interesting or helpful in some way.  I’m going to go ahead and continue the subscription for one more month to see what the next one is like.  But, in the meantime, I’ve already subscribed to Ipsy to see what they may have to offer.  Hopefully I don’t get all the same products as my daughter, but that is unlikely to happen since they personalize each box.

By the way, you may click on any of the product pictures and it will take you to the website so you may see more details about the products and purchase them if you wish.
