I’ve been doing a lot of searching for ways to improve upon my altar and recently made quite a few Dollar Store purchases and other “cheap finds” and thought I would share them with you.
Since Yule is fast approaching, the Dollar Tree has many decorations out for sale and I found bells, faux flowers, wreaths and decorations for my altar.

I also bought a frame, ribbon and some dragonfly decorations for various projects. The frame is going to house a watercolor painting of Danu that my kids’ father painted and it is going to find a home above my altar. Red bows are going to decorate the wreaths I have purchased to also adorn the wall above my altar. The ribbons are going to decorate some candles I purchased as a gift for someone. The dragonflies are also for a gift for someone, but I haven’t decided yet what that gift might be (it’s a thought in progress).

There are pine trees where I work, so I gathered up some pinecones that had fallen off the trees. I dried them in the oven at 200 degrees for an hour and a half (30 minutes just wasn’t cutting it), scrubbed them gently with a nail brush to get off the excess sap and dirt. Now they are just waiting for me to spray them with varnish. We will be using them to also decorate our altars if there is any room left.
What are you doing to decorate for Yule? Please feel free to share in the comments.
