My kids and I have been staying at my brother’s house during Christmas break while they are away. It’s been rather nice living in a house as opposed to an RV for a change. My first order of business, of course, was to take a bubble bath. It’s one of my favorite things to do, but I can’t do that in the RV because we only have a shower there. It was really nice to just soak in the tub and helped relax a lot of sore muscles.
We’ve also been taking advantage of the fact that we are in a city as opposed to a seriously small town in the middle of nowhere, so we have been doing some shopping. We made the mistake of going to the mall here this past weekend. We drove around for quite some time before we managed to find a parking space. Then we walked through the mall. We really weren’t there to spend any money because all of our Christmas shopping was already done, but I did find a couple of shirts that I bought as extra presents for the kiddies. It wasn’t horribly bad as far as crowds go, although my daughter did get her foot run over by a lady pushing her triple stroller through the Bath and Body Works. (A triple stroller, but only one child.) I wish the stores would make themselves more accessible to people who do have to push strollers or are in wheelchairs. They make it nearly impossible for them to get through without bumping into merchandise or people.

Other than that, we have been having a really nice time. We even made cupcakes. My daughter wanted Red Velvet cupcakes, so I bought a mix and we got green frosting to make them more Christmasy. Apparently they turned out good. Even my cat tried to eat one. (I don’t really eat sweets, but my kids like them.)
We are almost done with all of the wrapping of presents. We have a few more things to wrap and I have a shipment coming from Amazon tomorrow that will need wrapping. I’ve been trying to stay in the Christmas spirit by watching some Christmas movies. One that I particularly enjoyed was called “Finding John Christmas”. I believe it was on the Hallmark channel. The only problem I had with it is that they made such a big deal about him leaving his family, but it never really made any sense as to why he left. It seemed like a rather flimsy excuse. Other than that, I thought it was rather cute.
I read this blog post today and really enjoyed it. You should definitely check it out: http://stuphblog.com/2012/12/14/daily-prompt-dear-mom/ I was laughing pretty hard while reading it. It reminded me so much of my own childhood.
So, that’s my update for today. I hope everyone’s holiday is going well.
