A pile of leaves burned as the neighborhood gathered in front of the mayor’s house. A child was climbing a tree to get a better view above the crowd. They were carrying signs saying things like “Quit Now”, “Resign as Mayor” and other fairly colorful remarks.
The town was angry because their water supply had been ruined due to the mayor ordering a pesticide to be sprayed to help downsize the mosquito population. The problem was that the pesticide had contaminated the water supply.
The mayor had scheduled a press conference for 3:p.m. The crowd started gathering shortly before hand, calling for his resignation. Apparently they were fed up with his incompetency in office. Never mind that he had ran unopposed. Nobody else wanted the thankless job.
The streets were decorated for Halloween. A Halloween that was spoiled by the fact that the kids couldn’t put on their makeup or spray paint their hair because there would be no water to wash it off with.
As the mayor made his way down the gangway of his house, the crowd began to boo. The closer he had gotten to the podium, the louder the crowd yelled. Nobody was even going to give him a chance to speak. Somebody threw a rotten tomato. Then more people joined in throwing eggs and rotten fruit and vegetables. The police didn’t even bother to stop them. They continuously pounded the mayor with all sorts of garbage.
He fell on the ground and the mob simply attacked him. They didn’t stop until he was no longer moving. The crowd began to disperse, no longer filled with the rage that they had experienced only moments before.
The boy in the tree watched the mayor’s body begin to twitch. Slowly, the body began to stand up. The mayor turned to look at the boy in the tree. His red eyes glowed red with a fierce look of anger and rage.
